Held annually on the first Monday in May, the Met Gala is not just simply about the idea of simply wearing creative fashion pieces and walking in the Met stairs, rather the gala serves as the grand opening of the Constume Institute's annual fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York City.
Met Gala has been around for over a decades---introduced in 1948 as a midnight supper club known as the Costume Institute Benefit. The first ever themed gala was later held in 1973. The official dress code for this year gala is "The Garden of Time" inspired by J.G. Ballards short story of the same title.

Giving a major SLAYDEYA!!! The fashion icon wore not just one, but two looks at the Met red carpet. Catapulting herself as the queen of the red carpet, for this year's Met Gala--Zendaya wore a looks that both pays homage to the dress code and exhibit theme. Zendaya's first look is an ensemble from Artisanal Masion Margiela by John Galliano, which is inspired by the designers' creation for Dior SS99. The look is consist of a bias-cut "siren dress" overlaid with iridescent electric blue organza with retrograding in undulating bands of hand - painted metallic crin with birds, flowers, vines, grapes, and nuts embellishments.
For it's second look, the fashion icon wore a impeccable look that is perfect for closing the 2024 Met red carpet. The look is consist of an archival Givenchy haute couture Spring Summer 1996 off-shoulder gown in nuttle grey silk, and black silk zibelene, with a front corset detail, and ruched lace ruffles designed by John Galliano, finishing off by pairing an extravagant Philip Treacy headpiece from Alexander McQueen SS07. Oh Lana!!! The songstress wore a custom Alexander McQueen look by Seán McGirr to the 2024 Met Gala. The look is a direct reference to the archival Alexander McQueen creation from fall 2006 collection. The look contains a corseted silk dress, double georgette, and tulle hand - embroidered with bronze hammered bullion hawthorn branches. To add a touch of drama to the look, designer Seán McGirr use a natural hawthorn branches for the headpiece draping a sheer viel of tulle. A True Sleeping Beauty! The lovely and enchanting actress standouts at the 2024 Mey Gala wearing a custom Balmain look, which is giving an ethereal vibes and makes Elle a true sleeping beauty. According to Balmain, the amazing gown is made out of organza bustier gown, hand-covered with four (4) layers of resin for a trompe l'oeil glass effect--making it a perfect balance between whimsical and fashion.
